Only the most experienced fighters of the Wood Elf nobility are conscripted to the Eternal Guard. As bodyguards and protectors of the forest and the residents it is their duty to respond to threats and to defend the holy places during the cold season.
The Wildwood Rangers, however, oversee the peripheral areas of the Wildwood. They protect the borders against dangerous forest spirits and fight the invaders, who have managed to overcome the waystones.
